Player Pathway

The outline below shows the levels that each player can expect to develop through in our program, and these levels are part of our extensive curriculum to ensure and enrich player development. This pathway constantly strives to improve quality of play, and keep the competitive nature of the game increasing as players move through the pathway to ensure they are always placed in the most challenging and educational environments.

U9-U10 Academy

The Academy Program is designed as an in house program that focuses on player development, and technique of the players.  It also places emphasis on players simply enjoying the game, and participating in matches that don't necessarily put emphasis on wins and losses.  Building a love for the game is important in this age group and we work hard to make it as fun as possible for all players.  There is some competitive play and possibly Academy Jamborees that teams will play, and it will include inter-Academy scrimmages during the week, and sometimes on the weekends.

U11-14 Recreation Program

The Recreation Program is more focused on competitive nature of play, but all players are welcome to participate and there is no tryouts for the program.  Teams are developed and competitive matches are scheduled with matches primarily occurring during the weekends.  There will be some mid-week matches in an effort to get as many matches in as possible, and there will be the opportunity for players to play in an end of league tournament if provided by the league.  All play will be in house and no extensive travel is required.

U14-U19 Competitive Play

The Competitive Play pathway is for the more advanced and older players looking to play in an every weekend environment during the off-season from their high school teams.  Typically these teams will play year round if they are U14 or younger, and only seasonally if U15 or older.  This level of play is completed through US Club Soccer sanctioned leagues such as the ECNL, NPL, Carolina Champions League, First Flight League, or other US Club Sanctioned leagues.  These teams do require travel on the weekends for half of the season for the away matches only.  Parents assume a large responsibility for players in this league, ensuring that all players have transport to and from away matches.  Travel is not that extensive, with a majority of opponents being within 1.5 hours away max.  Tryouts do occur for these teams, and players must accept their place on the team and make their initial payments before a deadline to lock in their place on the team.  This team will only play in one end of season tournament, and participate in a league play which will require a weekly and every weekend commitment if the league schedule dictates, but often comes in a twice a month league style of play.

U17-U19 Showcase

The Showcase portion of our player development pathway is designed for the highest level of advanced player that is seeking to gain college exposure in hopes of gaining an athletic or academic scholarship to continue playing soccer well beyond their high school years.  These teams participate in 5-6 college showcase tournaments over the course of a season, and travel to at least 1 tournament a month is required.  These tournaments are weekend long tournaments, and require overnight stay and hotel lodging.  Transportation can be provided if necessary, but it is an additional per player fee and ranges around $30 per tournament.  Tournaments attended are in North and South Carolina and over the course of a season, players can expect to be seen by over 40-50 college coaches throughout the course of tournaments.  Tryouts are held for these teams and not all players are invited to participate on this select, elite team.  Players again must make their initial payments in May to secure their place on the yearly showcase teams.
